On March 2, 1836, The Convention of 1836 declared Texas' independence from Mexico. The meeting was held at Washington-on-the Brazos on a cold, blustery day. The Alamo was under siege by Santa Anna's army and it is unknown if the Texians in the Alamo found out about the declaration before their final day.
