New commission piece underway!

 Full view - 24 x 40

close up

Here is a first look at a commission piece that I got started on this week.  It measures 24" x 40" and is on a cradled board that I made myself.  I started with a background of vintage Texas ephemera.  The client suggested a few specific colors and an oil well in the center, other than that,  it's free game.  I'm super excited about this one.  It is also the largest piece I've ever done.  I'll keep you posted on the progress.

I'm really excited to have one of my pieces selected for the City of Frisco Art In The Atrium show!  This year I only had one piece selected for the show....but I'm really excited about the one that made the cut.  The reception is Wednesday, November 2nd from 7-9 PM at the Frisco City Hall / Library Complex.  If you are around stop by and see me.  The show will run through August of 2012.

Here are a few new pieces I did a few weeks ago.  I have sold a few of these lately and will get my current inventory up on my ETSY shop this week.  At one point a few weeks ago, I had about 30 unique acrylic transfer pieces.  I really dig these.  They are fun to do!

New Acrylic Transfer Complete

Alamo Plaza #4

Here is my new photo transfer piece that I just finished.  It is 24 x 24 on panel board. The transfer was done on old maps, train schedules, and other ephemera. I will have it on display at the Frisco Artists Studio Tour on October 15th and 16th.  I also hope to have it hanging on the walls at Frisco City Hall for this year's Art In The Atrium Show.  More details to come on both events!

New Stuff! - Horseshoe Lounge Transfer

I'm just about finished with this one.  It is the largest acrylic transfer that I've ever done. I collaged the background as usual and then I painted it before I transferred the image.   It is 24" x 24".  This was a bear! I  have no skin on the tip of my right index finger to prove it......that was some rubbin'  I'm super happy with how this is shaping up!

I finished 12 new acrylic transfers this week.  They are all 7.5 x 7.5 on poplar wood. Here is a sneak peak of a few of them.  I am going to be involved in a local artist studio tour in October so I am trying to knock out some new stuff!  It's good to get back in the groove creating art.

New Artwork Available In The Etsy Shop! .........Finally

What a blogging slacker I am!  Pitiful. I have been fairly busy lately and I haven't gotten much done in the old art department.  I hope to pick it up soon.  One thing I did want to mention is that I have put 9 of my acrylic transfers in my Etsy shop.  I'm finally getting around to this on my last day of summer.......go figure.  Each piece is original and one of a kind.  I hope to knock out quite a few more of these in the upcoming weeks.  I also plan to have a little announcement to make in the next week or so about another venture I've been working on...I'm really excited about it so stay tuned.

Acrylic Photo Transfers - Part 4

Here are a few more.  All of theses are on wood blocks that measure 7 3/8"  x 7  3/8".  In case you were wondering.  I will be putting some of these in my Etsy shop as soon as we get settled. We have started to really rev up the packing around here as we prepare to move to a new house next week.  I'm thinking that not much art is going to be created in the near future.  My plan is to do a few large scale transfers on some cool collaged/painted/distressed backgrounds.....maybe 24" x 24"  I'll keep you posted.

New Acrylic Photo Transfers on Collaged Old Paper

Texan Motel - Raton, New Mexico

Style Station - Waco, Texas

I finally had some time time today to create some art and I pretty much went all out.  I created 8 new pieces!  They are all 7.25 x 7.25 acrylic transfers on collaged ephemera.  I am using poplar wood blocks for the base instead of canvas.  I'm hooked on these blocks and may never do another collage on a canvas.  All eight are unique and I still have to rub the paper off of three of them....so I still have a few surprises left.  The images will look familiar.  Most are photographs that I've taken in the past.  I am really digging this right now.  Expect to see a bunch of these in the near future.
