Artseen Artist Studio Tour - Highlights and Pictures

Lone Star Beer on ice, Outlaw Country on satellite radio, a shady patio, some artwork, and good friends!
What a great weekend!  We had a great turnout on Saturday and Sunday for the inaugural Artseen Frisco Artists Studio Tour.  I was housed at the Heritage Exteriors landscaping office which happens to be in an older home off of Main Street. Thanks to Bob and Deb for allowing me to hang out all weekend!  It had a great shady patio and the studio area seemed like it was meant for my work.  It had that comfortable older feel which ties in perfectly with my style. I brought in a few props from my own studio to give it that homey feel.....you know - rusty license plates, gas station numbers, old beer cans.  The best part was that it already had track lighting!  It worked out great.  I had pretty steady traffic on both days.  Thanks to all my friends that came out to support the art tour, it really means a lot to me. We'll be doing it again next year for sure.  I also enjoyed visiting with all the other folks that dropped by to check things out.  Hopefully some of them will become fans.  I have tons of new art that I will be sharing soon and posting in my Etsy shop. So stay tuned. Adios!

Artseen Artist Studio Tour Saturday and Sunday!

"Cowboy Kid" - Acrylic transfer on ephemera collage

Well, I know I haven't been posting much lately.....but I have a decent reason.  I've been crazy busy preparing for the Artseen Frisco Artists Studio Tour!  I've been finishing new pieces, prepping older pieces, varnishing, wiring, and everything else that goes along with it.  If you are in the Metroplex area I would love to have you come by and see me on Saturday 10-5 or Sunday 1-5. There is a map available at the above link. I will have all of my work available for viewing and sale.  I will have snacks and of course some Lone Star beer on ice.  For those of you out of town, I will make sure and document the experience and post something next week about it.  Well, I got work to do.  See ya soon.

After many years of wanting to experience the Round Top Antique shows, we finally were able to work it into our schedule this year.  Okay, let me start by saying that it was the most amazing shopping experience ever.  I have never in my life seen so many antiques, collectibles, junk, and rare obscurities.  Vendors come from all over the country and even world to this event every year. Round Top is basically where every big time designer in the country comes to find the trends for the coming years.  It is a very inspiring place for an artist like myself.  We hit up Warrenton, Texas for an all day junking spree from 9-5:30 on day one.  On day two we hit up Round Top, Carmine, and La Bahia from 9-3.  Then we went back to Warrenton from 4:30-6:30.  Here are a few of the many highlights: I picked up some cool old gas station numbers $30 each, smaller gas station numbers - $5 each, 5- $1 70's Texas license plates, 1940's mounted antlers $10, $1 Pearl, Lone Star, and Shiner cans.  We also got an old street sign for $2, a sweet vintage pearl snap shirt for $5 to add to my collection of about 50.  These are just a few things we picked up. If you live in Texas I strongly suggest that you put this on your list of things to do before you die.  You will be blown away.  I'm posting tons of pictures today so y'all can get a sense of what you are dealing with in Round Top.
